Bernard W. Baruck said, “Never follow the crowd.” This is solid advice when considering the future. Strategic planning, simply put, is institutionalizing the process of change.
The companies soon find out that they need more than a written strategic plan. They need someone qualified to obtain honest input, evaluate strengths, and understand what should and should not change. The easiest way to accomplish change is to take advantage of underutilized strengths currently present in the culture. This means that the facilitator must understand timing, how to develop commitment in people and, subsequently, how to adequately sell the changes to the organization.
